Biography

Claudio Antonio Testi, born in Modena and graduated in Philosophy at the University of Bologna, is professor of Logic and Formal Logic at the Dominican Philosophical Studio, as well as being president of the Philosophical Institute of Tomistic Studies of Modena and co-founder of the Italian Association of Tolkienian Studies of which he was also Vice President.

He was the author of many writings of a philosophical and theological nature such as “Dimostrazione e induzione in Tommaso d’Aquino” (ETC, 2005), “Metafisica e azione: nuovi approcci al tomismo” with Mario Ricciardi (ESD, Bologna 2001) and ” Solo l’inutile può salvare il mondo” with Barzaghi G., Bennati G., Caslegrandi G., Cavazzuti G., Cerrigone E., Corradini S., Ghidoni E., Piras A. (InSeesimo, Savona, 2022).

There were also numerous works on Tolkien such as “Pagan Saints of Tolkien’s Middle-Earth” (Edizioni Studio Domenicano, 2014) of which he was also editor of the English translation, “The broken sickle: Death and Immortality in Tolkien” (Marietti 1820 , Milan, 2009) with R.Arduini with whom he also wrote “Tolkien and the Classics” (Walking Tree Publishers, Zurich, 2019) and “Tolkien e i Classici 2” (Eterea Edizioni, Rome, 2018) together with their colleagues Cecilia Barella and Giampaolo Songwriters.

He holds numerous lectures at the headquarters of the Institute of Thomistic Studies in Modena both on Tolkien topics and on philosophical and theological topics.
